Season 4 of Hidden in Plain Sight is upon us…

Season 4 of Hidden in Plain Sight in here

Season 4 of #HIPSPodcast is arriving on 3 February 2026. As per Season 3, it is now a webcast as well. You can watch all the videos on YouTube and it gives you visuals such as when passages are quoted to help you understand what is being said.

It still works as a podcast, of course, and you can hear the series on Apple Podcast, Spotify, or other media.

This series is a slight departure, where a debate is held between our resident expert, Dr Peter Hodges and Dr Joseph Khoury of St Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Canada. Carol Paxton and Dr Julian Ng then comment on that conversation.

Don’t miss our new season: arriving on all podcast apps from 3rd February, 2026.

HIPS Season 3

HIPS Season 3

Another year, another season of our beloved podcast. Season 3 of Hidden in Plain Sight hits the airways on January 14.

This time around, Peter Hodges, Carol Paxton and Julian Ng dig into the collection of sonnets, popularly attributed to William Shakespeare. Specifically, we are focusing on the so-called ‘Procreation Sonnets’. What exactly are they? Why were they written? For whom were they written? What do they mean?

In this series, we will be joined by some guests – Dr Rachel Wifall (Professor of English at St Peter’s University, New Jersey, USA) and Dr Peter Khoury (Professor of English at St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish, Canada).

Not only this, though… this marks the first we have videos! This is now a webcast as well.

Join us as we unravel the mysteries of the delightful sonnets.

Hidden in Plain Sight Theme Song

To celebrate the end of Season 2 of #HIPSPodcast, I decided to write a song for the podcast using the motif of the podcast theme tune.

Called ‘Hidden in Plain Sight’ (what else?), it is performed by the wonderful Lucas Hardy.

HIPS Podcast Season Two

HIPSPodcast Season 2

Hey folks… thought we would let you know that Season 2 of our #HIPSPodcast is now live and you can already start streaming episodes from our website or via Spotify or Amazon Music for free.

The research we have been doing has also impacted #KitMusical substantially meaning that we are busy rewriting the musical as well. 🙂

New content will be coming soon, but in the meantime, head over to the HIPS Podcast website.

In this series, we take a look at the possibility that Christopher Marlowe did not die on May 30, 1593 in Deptford as is believed.

Together with writer and producer, Dr Peter Hodges, and dramaturg, Carol Paxton, we delve into the events that might have transpired after 1593 and we might also prove that Christopher Marlowe was alive and well in 1598 – 5 years after his alleged murder.

Why not have a listen now?

New Podcast Coming Soon

We are very excited to announce that, in collaboration with Dr Peter Hodges (author, playwright and producer), a new podcast about Christopher Marlowe will soon be launched on 30 May 2023.

The date is deliberate, as keen Marlowe fans will note.

More details will be coming soon. 🙂

Updated version of ‘The Virgin Queen’

We had great fun making this video of ‘The Virgin Queen‘ during lockdown.

Aoife Beer plays HRH Queen Elizabeth I in a lighter mood, sipping tea in her garden, while asking for more theatre productions to be put on. Somewhat of a sad paradox right now, given how theatres have gone dark.

Still, flick yourself back to the late 16th century, and imagine how the plagues had closed down theatres as well… and the parallels are a little scary.

Enjoy the video! 🙂

A Different Vow from #KitMusical

Another song from #KitMusical hits the web today. Jack Reitman, the 2020 Best Actor Winner at the Offies (Off West End Awards), gives his take on ‘A Different Vow‘.

Our hero, Kit, wonders what would have happened if he had taken up monastic orders instead of becoming a dramatist in London.

Let us know what you think. 🙂
